Paul Duncan's S & H
Railway - Pontefract, West Yorkshire
After a busy peak season
on the S&H and the successful tunnelling project under the river
Sondon, the normal timetable has resumed, and the high freight
flows of wood, from the logging sites have also taken to the
rails.
The tourists have now disappeared until the snows fall, making
way for the skiers trains, and a whole new season. The permanent
way which had previously seen a dramatic decline in standard,
has been restored to full operation, including lots of new
ballast and continuous welded rail. This now means the heavy
freight trains can now run the length of the line once more, a
good outcome of privatisation from the local authorities hands! |
