Glyn and Andy Smith's Old Oak Mountain Railroad, Hythe, Hants

The Old Oak Mountain Railroad was conceived (is that the correct word?) in Autumn 2003 and we have made modest progress in constructing a main circuit of approx 120 feet since that time. The railroad - yes American outline is favoured here - is in a woodland setting which suits it quite well - particularly our Shay with skeleton log car train. As always there is much to do to create buildings with the Furzedale Depot first in line for freight and passenger depot buildings.
A branch, or should I say short line will follow connecting the main line to the 'storage building' by the house. Civil engineering and permanent way funding is taking priority over motive power and stock but we are beginning to acquire the latter now.
Encouraged by our local area rep. Jack Nisbet, we have held our first open day in June this year which was very enjoyable, and we have plans for a second 'Winter' open day in early December in the hope that some hardy souls will come along!

Keith Edwards's Sandwell Valley Railway, West Bromwich, West Midlands

I started building my garden railway in 2002.  So far it consists of a single track loop which meanders around the garden with three passing loops.  The plans for the next few months are to continue to integrate the railway into the garden (areas of it still look quite raw) and to begin an extension which will eventually take the railway around the side of the house.

Paul Duncan's Sondon and Hostein Bahn Railway, Pontefract, West Yorkshire

Viewers of the web site will have seen the pictures recently sent to the gallery of the 'Sondon and Hostein Bahn'. As some will know, it has been an up and coming railway for the last four years, built by me, and financed mainly by my father!  (He has a better wage.)  It has been great fun both building and running the railway, all based on the Old East Germany. We have just finished laying the last extension in the garden......... to the back door, but for now, until I have pictures available, compare these with the others, especially of the photo's that appeared in the journal a while ago.
