Recent Snow on the
Blaenwern Light Railway, Bristol - Jonathan Edwardes
The Blaenwern Light Railway is
still under construction (along with restoring the garden), most
of the track is now ballasted and future projects include a
spiral to avoid a sharp gradient and also a short tunnel for the
same reason. The formation is one continuous loop arranged in a
sort of dumbbell shape around the edge of the garden. The line
already crosses the garden pond by an impressive home made
girder bridge (made very well by my brother Bob).

Anglesey Valley Railway, Staffordshire
- Bill Betts
The Anglesey Valley Railway
was started in 2005 as an early retirement project. Early so I
could pay for it whilst still working and then finish it after I
retire. We ran for 2005 on a temporary track to see if the
layout and track plan worked and then we ripped it all up and
re-laid the track with modifications in its current form.
We have an end to end track with a passing section and a
reversing loop at each end. The track goes around the lawn and
the two reversing loops come together. There is also a main line
which also surrounds not just the lawn but the water feature as
well. The main line has a five track fiddle yard for assembling
and holding trains.
The controls are MTS and the passing section is automated so
that head on collisions are avoided.
