House/Station Building by Thomas Smith
This scratch built house/station
was made from balsa wood and was completed a couple of years
ago.
It is all freelance, but I built it on the memories I had of
seeing timber buildings erected. I just used thick card for the
plasterboard inner wall linings. The roof is made out of
individual pieces of wood and apart from the guttering and down
pipes, which were leftovers from Pola kits, all is balsa. The
paint is from the tester pots you can purchase from DIY stores.
The building looks passable for a North German/Denmark type of
building and provides a little character different from the
plastic kits.

Mill Creek Signal Box by Robert Leavold
This scratch built signal box on
the American section of my railway is constructed from 100 thou
plasticard overlaid with Tenmille embossed brick, roof tile, and
weatherboard plastic sheets. It is painted with Humbrol
paint and matt varnish. It is loosely based on a 'HO' scale
model.

A French House by Peter Smith
The photos are of a
French house which Peter has built for his next layout, St Jean
sur Mer. The model is totally scratch-built, mainly in plastic,
and has a fully detailed interior making use of 1/24th scale dolls
house fittings. The model is 1/22.5 scale, and will stand at the
end of the layout to mask the tracks leading into the fiddle yard.
